ASEAN Secretary-General Mr. Lim Jock Hoi expressed hope that in the next 10 years, Cambodia's cities will grow like other cities in the ASEAN region.
The remarks were made when Mr. Lim Jock Hoi paid a courtesy call on Senior Minister Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport, on January 18, 2021.
Mr. Lim Jock Hoi lauded the Ministry of Public Works for its significant achievements in road infrastructure development under the guidance of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia.
H.E Senior Minister Sun Chanthol highlighted the priorities of building and developing the Royal Government's physical infrastructure under the leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, and highly valued the importance of the four priority areas: water, electricity, roads infrastructure and Human resources to build and develop Cambodia.
He said that in the past 20 years, Cambodia has achieved great achievements, with Cambodia beging to build a road network with two layers of thin rubber (DBST) to connect all corners of Phnom Penh to the provinces in the first phase.
The whole country has now reached the second stage, which is the stage to improve the quality of roads from two paved roads to thin concrete roads (AC) and widen the road from two lanes to four lanes for major national roads to accommodate economic and vehicle growth.
