Samdech Techo Hun Sen hold a meeting via video conference with the new Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Myanmar Affairs

On the morning of January 13, 2022, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia and Chair of ASEAN 2022, held a meeting via video conferences with Dr. Noeleen Hayzer, New Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations​ in charge of Myanmar affairs.

UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Myanmar, Noeleen Heyzer, has expressed her intention to work closely with Cambodia to resolve the crisis in Myanmar peacefully.

The intent of the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General was made when she held a meeting via video conference with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E Prakk Sokhonn on December 28, 2021.

During Samdech Techo Hun Sen's visit to Myanmar from January 7 to 8, 2022, Myanmar's senior military leader Min Aung Hlaing assured the facilitation of the visit of the Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair​​ and the UN Special Envoy to Myanmar to meet with stakeholders.

Samdech Techo's visit was successful, with Myanmar's top military leader deciding to extend the ceasefire until the end of 2022 and to facilitate aid distribution.
