The 43rd ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Demonstrates Enhanced Cooperation between Parliament and Dialogue Partners

The 43rd ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) highlighted the close cooperation between regional parliaments and dialogue partners to effectively respond to regional and global challenges.

The First Plenary Session of the 43rd AIPA General Assembly on "Stepping Together for Sustainability, Environment and Resilience of ASEAN" was chaired by Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia and President of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly the 43rd and parliamentary delegations of eight ASEAN countries.

Samdech Heng Samrin highlighted the importance and role of the Parliamentary Institutions of ASEAN Member States in promoting regional cooperation to maintain stability, security, economy, investment, tourism and socio-economic recovery in the aftermath of the COVID-19 crisis. 

At the opening day of the General Assembly, three major meetings took place. They were the First Plenary Session, the AIPA Women Inter-Parliament Assembly (WIPA) and the AIPA Young Members Assembly (YPA). At the meeting, AIPA delegates discussed measures to enhance AIPA's prestige and increase ties with regional and global parliaments.

The AIPA Women's Parliamentary Meeting discussed and approved several papers, which helped to facilitate women’s endeavors to strengthen Women's Courage, and Promote women in Parliament and to promote their honor and security. 

Young members of Parliament discussed steps to encourage the youth to participate more in society.
