Samdech Kittipritthbandit Bun Rany Hun Sen appreciates the Khmer ethnic people in Vietnam for continuing to preserve the traditional Khmer culture for generations

Samdech Kittipritthbandit Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Red Cross, praised the Khmer ethnic people in Vietnam for continuing to preserve the traditional Khmer culture for generations.

Samdech Kittipritthbandit Bun Rany, who is the wife of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, spoke to Khmer Buddhist followers at Wat Poh Kiri Vongsaram on Monday November 4, 2024.

Samdech Kittipritthbandit expressed her appreciation for the Khmer ethnic people for having continued to preserve the traditional culture of the Khmer generation to young generation and for joining the Khatina of Great Unity Family in great number.

She continued to say that the Khmer people   have always remembered each other and have always gathered on the occasion of festivals, especially big festivals such as Khmer New Year, Pchum Ben and Kathina festivals.

She added that the ceremony served as a historical event for the brotherhood, friendship and unity among the great Buddhists, in general and in particular, among the Khmer people under the roof of peace.

Samdech Kittipritthbandit Bun Rany thanked the government and authorities at all level of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for making it easier for the Khmer ethnic people to live and practice their religion, culture, traditions and customs.

he   Kathina   organized   by   the   Royal   Government   of   Cambodia   departed

Phnom Penh very early morning of Monday October 4 for a Khmer pagoda in

a southern province of Vietnam.  

The   procession   of   the   Kathina   or   Buddhist   robe   o#ering   festival   left   the

headquarters   of   the   Cambodian   People’s   Party   in   Phnom   Penh.   The

procession was led by Preisdent  of   the Cambodian Red Cross Committee,

Samdech kittipritbandit Bun Rany, the wife of the President of the Senate,

Samdech Techo Hun Sen. Many senior o+cials of the Senate, the National

Assembly   and   the   Royal   Government   joined   the   Khatina   procession.   The

procession went to Poh Kiri Vongsa pagoda, in Ngai Xuyen Commune, Tra Cu

district, Tra Vinh province of Vietnam.

In a recent social media post, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that the festival

was to show the unity of Khmer people, as “Khmer Leu, Khmer Kandal, and

Khmer Krom are all one. That is why the Kathina ceremony was named the

‘Great Unity Family Kathina,’ where all Khmer citizens, regardless of their

political a+liations, can join together.”

He further said on his social media post that the ceremony this year would

ful7l a long-standing ambition for the Cambodian leader. He highlighted that

since 2012, it has taken 12 years to formally realize the dream of organizing

the Kathina ceremony for Khmer Krom people.

The Khatina organized by the Royal Government, the Senate and the National Assembly of Cambodia departed Phnom Penh very early morning of Monday October 4 for Poh Kiri Vongsa pagoda, in Ngai Xuyen Commune, Tra Cu district, Tra Vinh province of Vietnam.

The procession of the Kathina or Buddhist robe offering festival left the headquarters of the Cambodian People’s Party in Phnom Penh. The procession was led by Preisdent of the Cambodian Red Cross Committee, Samdech kittipritbandit Bun Rany, the wife of the President of the Senate, Samdech Techo Hun Sen. Many senior officials of the Senate, the National Assembly and the Royal Government joined the Khatina procession.
