Samdech Techo Hun Sen congratulates the 46th anniversary of the birth of the United Front for the Development of the Cambodian Fatherland

The President of the Senate said that responding to the call made by the United Front for the Salvation of Cambodian Fatherland and with support from the Vietnamese Volunteer Army and from friends near and far around the world, Cambodian people from all over the country had stood up together as a great national solidarity force to overthrow the Democratic Kampuchea regime until achieving a glorious victory on January 7, 1979. Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, recalled the event in message commemorating the 46th anniversary of the birth of the United Front for the Development of the Cambodian Fatherland on December 2.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that the great victory of January 7, 1979 ended the darkest period in Cambodian history and opened a new era. We, the Cambodian people, have regained our freedom and the opportunity to rebuild our homeland, stressed Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that the United Front for the Salvation of Cambodian Fatherland, now renamed the United Front for the Development of the Cambodian Fatherland, has been a leading mass organization of the Cambodian People’s Party.  

He said that all people have clearly understood that without the birth of the Front on December 2 and the victory on January 7, there would be nothing like today. "This is the truth of history."

The United Front for the Salvation of the Cambodian Fatherland was established in the liberated area of ​​Cheung Khlu village, 2 Thnu commune, Snuol district, Kratie province.

Several prominent fighters, including Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, Samdech Akka Moha Thammapothisal Chea Sim, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and many others had led people in the struggle to overthrow the genocidal Pol Pot regime and achieve victory on January 7, 1979.
