Samdach Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on the morning of February 20, 2025, presided over the ceremony of "Opening the Cambodian Social Protection Week 2025 and announcing the official implementation of the National Social Protection Policy Framework 2024-2035", at Sokha Hotel, Phnom Penh.
Social Protection Week is a forum that provides an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss and exchange perspectives, policies, share knowledge, experiences, and best practices of social protection policies from other countries, both regionally and globally, especially to disseminate the progress of the Cambodian social protection system to beneficiaries and the public to better understand.
The new phase of the National Social Protection Policy Framework has changed the approach to developing the social protection system from a pillar-based system to a life-cycle risk approach, that is, providing protection to citizens from the moment of their first birth until the last stage of their life cycle.
The two-day Cambodian Social Protection Week 2025 was organized under the theme of Developing Cambodian Social Protection Systems for Better Coverage across Life Cycle Risks and was accompanied by keynote presentations, plenary discussions, group discussions, and youth advocacy competitions on relevant topics, with the participation of the officials, distinguished guests, leaders of relevant ministries and institutions, governors of provincial and municipal governments, ambassadors, representatives of relevant development partners, representatives of research institutions, students, and beneficiaries, totaling approximately 1,000 people, both in person and via online.
