Cambodian Health Minister asks Asia Pacific Vice President for Civil Registration to share knowledge on digital health

In a meeting with Mr. Romain Santon, Asia Pacific Vice President for Civil Registration and Vital Statistics, on March 4, H.E Chheang Ra, Minister of Health of Cambodia, asked to collaborate in sharing knowledge and experiences related to digital health systems.

According to Mr. Romain Santon, Vital Strategies’ work has been implemented in Cambodia from 2017 to the present.

Vital Strategies, through Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Data for Health initiative, has supported improved collection, analysis, and use of public health data in Cambodia through the implementation of civil registration, vital statistics, data impact and cancer registry projects, and tobacco control projects.

Mr. Romain Santon thanked the Minister of Health for his close support to the Vital Strategies team so far to make the project effective and efficient, and requested recommendations for cooperation and implementation of the project and action plan for step 6 from April 2025 to March 2027 for the Healthy Cities project.

The Minister thanked and welcomed Mr. Romain Santon for his goodwill in supporting the health sector, especially in supporting the preparation of the Law on Civil Status, Civil Status Statistics and Identification, which came into effect in 2023, and confirmed his commitment to continue supporting the preparation of the draft Inter-Ministerial Declaration on Civil Status and Civil Status Statistics and Cancer Registration, and requested guidance on the preparation of further cooperation projects.
