The Ministry of Women's Affairs supports workshops on functional analysis and institutional restructuring

The Ministry of Civil Service Cambodia and the Ministry of Women's Affairs jointly organized a workshop to review and analyze the functions and structure of the Ministry of Women's Affairs".

The workshop was held on April 21,2025 under the chairmanship of H.E Hun Many, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service Cambodiaand Her Excellency Ung Kanthaphavy, Minister of Women's Affairs.

In her opening address, the Ministry of Women's Affairs expressed hope that the workshop would help identify the shortcomings of functions and organizational structure of the Ministry.    

Her Excellency Ung Kanthaphavy said that the Ministry of Women's Affairs has had 9 meetings with senior officials and technical working groups to review and analyze the functions and structure of the ministry and the Secretariat of the Cambodian National Council for Women. She said that as a result, the ministry has updated its functions according to the current needs of society and in the future. She stated that the Ministry of Women's Affairs has been working closely with the technical support team of the Ministry of Civil Service Cambodia to prepare progress reports, update the structure and data of civil servants in accordance with the instructions of the Royal Government. The Minister of Women’s Affairs added that the Ministry has also collaborated with the ABI organization and would receive an assessment of the institution's functions in light of the new needs emerging in society. At the same time, the Ministry’s Civil Service Cambodia ‘s Task Force and Financial Management Reform Task Force, and Monitoring and Evaluation Task Force have been discussing ways of promoting collaboration and accountability in the implementation and management of human, technical, and budgetary resources to strengthen institutional efficiency in line with the “Strengthening rather than expanding” approach, “Putting our own house in order” and the “Energies of a single actor system” approach.  The workshop was also attended by senior officials and experts from both ministries and the women's affairs departments of the 25 capital and provincial departments.
