Sea and river ports have made a significant contribution to improving transportation in Cambodia.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the International Tourist Port in Kampot province on Monday April 21 , H.E Peng Pornea, Minister of Public Works and Transport, said that Cambodia currently has 119 sea and river ports in operation.
He said that all of the ports have contributed to improving the efficiency and expanding the scope of river and sea transport in Cambodia.
The Minister further said that the opening of the port would open a new chapter in the history of connecting Cambodia’s tourism sector by sea with neighboring countries, and countries in the region and the world. He stressed that the port would contribute to improving sea transport connections to other tourist destinations such as Kep, Preah Sihanouk, Koh Kong and several islands in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
The Kampot International Tourist Port is built on an area of over 4 hectares. The port can currently accommodate up to 300 passenger ships
The Kampot International Tourist Port is located in Chum Kriel Village, Chum Kriel Commune, Teuk Chhou District, Kampot Province, it is considered an important international sea gateway for connecting tourists from various countries.
