The President of the Cambodian Senate said that Chinese assistance would ensure the Funan Techo Canal project would be completed on schedule.

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate , made this statement at the opening ceremony of the third session of the 5th Senate on Tuesday April 22, 2025.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that the assistance was pledged by the Chinese leader during his state visit to Cambodia. He highly appreciated the state visit of President Xi Jinping to Cambodia from April 17 to 18, 2025, which has provided great benefits to the relations between the two countries, especially the economic, trade and investment relations.

During this visit of Chinese President, Cambodia and China also signed five agreements and contracts related to the Funan Techo Integrated Water Resources Management Project.

The five agreements and contracts included a public-private partnership agreement signed by Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, and Mr. Ieng Sunly, representative of Funan Techo Coastal-Inland Waterway company.
