Minister of Rural Development meets with Ambassador of the Republic of India

H.E Chhay Rithisen, Minister of Rural Development, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of India, H.E Vanlalvawna Bawitlung and his colleagues on April 23, 2025 at the Ministry’s office.

The Minister briefed the Ambassador on the vision and the first phase of the pentagonal strategy of the Royal Government of Cambodia of the 7th mandate headed by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The Minister of Rural Development highlighted the achievements in the past and the priority directions of the Ministry of Rural Development through the vision of “Building a prosperous, modern, innovative, digital and resilient Cambodian rural area in economic, social and cultural aspects to ensure sustainable growth in household income and improved well-being.

The Minister stressed the importance of developing model villages, as model villages are centers of development that provide social and economic services and have positive impacts on other surrounding villages, which can ensure the growth of jobs and income of people living in rural areas, reducing social inequality between rural and urban areas. He also mentioned the cooperation between the Royal Government of Cambodia and India in the fields of culture, education and many other areas.

He added India has also provided assistance through the Ministry of Rural Development, such as integrated community development projects through clean water, sanitation and vocational training, a project to eliminate arsenic from drinking water around Tonle Sap Lake, a project to protect the environment through the elimination of pollutants, and providing training courses to officials of the Ministry of Development.
