The Ministry of Health has launched a plan for the control of cancer in Cambodia.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, presided over the launching ceremony on Monday May 5, 2025.
The National Cancer Control Plan 2025-2030 is a strategic framework designed to guide a country’s efforts to implement evidence-based strategies for prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment and palliative care in a systematic and equitable manner.
The plan uses existing resources most effectively for a specific period of 5 to 10 years, in accordance with the country’s social, economic and health system context. The Ministry of Health stressed that the main objective of the plan is to reduce cancer incidence and mortality rates and improve the quality of life of cancer patients through a comprehensive and coordinated approach that contributes to improving the overall health and well-being of the population.
The National Cancer Control Plan has set out a vision, objectives, goals, strategies, and strategic actions for fighting cancer, with clear targets and indicators for monitoring and evaluation.
The Cambodian Prime Minister has supported the Ministry of Health in preparing the “National Cancer Control Plan 2025-2030” with the aim of reducing preventable cancer cases and premature mortality from the disease, and increasing survival rates and quality of life for patients and their families.
The Head of the Royal Government said that the successful implementation of the National Cancer Control Plan would not only effectively reduce cancer, but also contribute to accelerating the progress of the health sector in Cambodia towards universal health coverage. The Cambodian Prime Minister believed that the National Plan would serve as a strategic basis for mobilizing resources and strong commitment from all stakeholders to ensure successful implementation.
