The Cambodian Prime Minister instructs relevant ministries to work together to reduce risk factors that cause cancer

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has instructed relevant ministries and institutions to join the Ministry of Health in preventing and reducing risk factors that cause cancer.

The instruction was made when Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister presided over the official launching of the National Cancer Control Plan 2025-2030 on Monday, May 5, 2025.

The Cambodian Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Health to promote the implementation of this important national plan consistently through a multi-sectoral mechanism to manage, coordinate and implement effectively, aiming to improve health services and contribute on the one hand to achieving universal health coverage and on the other hand to the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Cambodian Prime Minister added that the Ministry of Health must continue to promote the implementation of a specific cancer data management system to support the development and implementation of policies, prepare technical guidelines, comply with international best practices, and strengthen the capacity of health officials at all levels, both public and private, in managing, providing preventive services, diagnosing and treating cancer with quality and safety.

He added that the Ministry of Health must continue to promote the training of specialists at all levels, both medical and allied health professionals, so that health human resources are fully capable of providing comprehensive cancer care and treatment services.
