The Cambodian Prime Minister asks relevant ministries to jointly review and manage the import of vegetables and meat into the country

The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia has recommended the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture, the General Directorate of Taxation and Customs, and relevant authorities to jointly review and manage the import of vegetables into the country.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, made the recommendation when he presided over the official launching of the “National Plan to Fight Cancer 2025-2030” on Monday, May 5, 2025.

The Cambodian Prime Minister said that in order for the people to be healthy and to contribute to the development of the country and economic growth, relevant parties had towork together to monitor the import of fish, meat, and vegetables from other countries into Cambodia.

The Prime Minister stressed that the move was to ensure that people’s health wouldn’t be at risk from unhealthy products.

The Prime Minister further said that the joint review of the import of vegetables and meat was also to reduce people’s risk of suffering from cancer due to malnutrition.

He also sent a message to the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to cooperate with school administrations across the country to disseminate educational messages related to health in diets to students.
