Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony of the Takhmao City Wastewater Treatment System Development Project.

The ceremony took place on Tuesday May 6.

According to a report of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the drainage and wastewater treatment systems for the Takhmao City Wastewater Treatment System Development Project will be designed as separate systems for rainwater and wastewater.

The project includes a one-year operation and maintenance training to increase and strengthen the capacity of personnel responsible for the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment system after construction is completed.

The project is undertaken by company KUMHO-TECHCROSS and technically supervised by company DOHWA-SEOYOUNG, with a total contract cost of over US$90 million under a concessional loan from the Government of the Republic of Korea, together with the Royal Government of Cambodia’s fund. The project will take 36 months to complete, with construction scheduled for completion in 2027.

After completion, the facilities will contribute to improving the well-being and environmental hygiene of residents living in the six districts of Takhmao City and helping to reduce flooding during the rainy season.
