His Excellency Neth Pheaktra, Minister of Information of Cambodia, ​ arrived in Brunei Darussalam for the 17th ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Information and related meetings from May 7 to 9 2025.

As the Chair of the meeting, Brunei hosted the conference under the theme “Media Fostering Shared Understanding: The Changing Role of Media in Promoting Cooperation and Mutual Understanding in ASEAN MAJU”, which emphasizes the evolving role of media in strengthening regional cooperation, identity and mutual understanding.

The meeting was attended by all ASEAN Member States, Timor-Leste, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea and the ASEAN Secretariat.

In his opening remarks, His Royal Highness Prince HAJI AL-MUHTADEE BILLAH IBNI HIS MAJESTY SULTAN HAJI HASSANAL BOLKIAH MU’IZZADDIN WADDAULAH, Crown Prince and Senior Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office of Brunei, highlighted the importance of strategic media engagement in promoting ASEAN Centrality.

Cambodia is a Vice-Chair of the meeting in Brunei Darussalam.

Cambodia will assume the rotating presidency of the 18th AMRI meeting in 2027.
