The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training and the International Labor Organization (ILO) organized a closing program for the training course on “Evidence-based Policy Making for Decent Work” on May 9, 2025 at the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training.
The closing ceremony of the training course was held under the chairmanship of H.E Som Chamnan, Secretary of State of Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, and presented the certificates to 44 participants who participated in the training course.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the training, H.E Som Chamnan said that this training is very important for the leaders and technical officers of the tripartite components who are participants in policy-making to gain knowledge about the main principles of the International Labor Organization (ILO), the concept of decent work and the process of developing policies in the context of decent work, as well as the difference between research-based policy-making and evidence-based policy-making, especially research and policy-making methods, evidence assessment for decent work, and communication and advocacy for decent work.
He highlighted that the organization of this training course demonstrates the joint commitment of Cambodia and the ILO to promote decent work and social justice, which are the foundations of sustainable and inclusive development of the labor sector, social security and vocational training. He also asked all participants to apply the knowledge gained from the five-day training to practice and input into policy-making in line with their organizations’ missions to contribute to the promotion of decent work in Cambodia.
