The First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia Leads Working Group for Cambodia-US Free Trade Agreement Negotiation Mission

A group of senior officials of the Royal Government of Cambodia left Phnom Penh on Saturday, May 10, for the United States for tariff negotiations.

The group was led by H.E Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister, First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia. Joined the group was Her Excellency Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce and His Excellency Kun Nhem,Minister attached to the Prime Minister and Director General of the General Department of Customs and Excise. The tariff talks take place from May 13 to 15, 2025.

Cambodia is fully prepared to participate in bilateral negotiations on an open and comprehensive trade agreement with the US side, with high commitment to constructive and productive engagement, to achieve a deep, equitable and balanced bilateral trade relationship, aiming to promote mutual benefits through this important trade relationship.

The Royal Government of Cambodia has also expressed its strong commitment to strengthening procedures for preventing and curbing origin fraud and promoting the implementation of the Rules of Origin Law in a transparent manner for the export of certain goods to the US market through the issuance of an inter-ministerial declaration between the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Commerce and a declaration by the Ministry of Commerce.

H.E Sun Chanthol is also Head of the Working Group for the Coordination of Cambodia-US Bilateral Trade and Investment Relations,
