During a meeting in Phnom Penh on Monday May 12 with Ms. GWYNNETH WONG, of Plan International, H.E Chhay Rithisen, Minister of Rural Development, said that the Ministry has formulated policies on rural development in consideration of the vision and Pentagonal Strategy Phase 1 of the Royal Government of the 7th mandate, headed by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The Minister highlighted the achievements and priorities of the Ministry of Rural Development through the vision of building a prosperous, modern, innovative, digital and resilient Cambodian rural area in terms of economy, society and culture” to ensure sustainable growth in household income and better well-being.

The Minister also pointed to the cooperation between the Ministry of Rural Development and Plan International, which has contributed to supporting rural areas in the fields of education, health and sanitation, and rural clean water, as Plan International has also been actively involved in ending desertification.

For her part, Ms. GWYNNETH WONG said that Plan International has signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Rural Development for 24 years from 2003 to 2027, using a budget of US$30 million to implement projects supporting rural water supply and sanitation, health and nutrition, and child participation.
