Cambodia and the United States exchanged views in a frank and constructive manner and in atmosphere of mutual understanding to further strengthening bilateral trade and investment relations.
According to a press release of the Royal Government of Cambodia Spokesperson’s Unit on Thursday, May 15, 2025, the two sides had in-depth discussions on the draft text of the Reciprocal Trade Agreement.
H.E Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, and Her Excellency Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, have been in Washington, D.C from May 13 to 15, 2025 to participate in the first round of negotiations on the Reciprocal Trade Agreement between Cambodia and the United States.
The US side was led by Ms. Sarah Ellerman, Deputy United States Trade Representative for Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
During the first round of talks, the two sides exchanged views in a friendly atmosphere on further strengthening bilateral trade and investment relations and discussed in depth the text of the draft trade agreement.
Both sides agreed to hold the second round of talks in the first week of June 2025 in Washington, DC.
The Royal Government, headed by the Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech ThipadeiHun Manet, will continue to work diligently on this work, said the press release.
