Minister of Interior: Meditation plays an important role in the mental education of the general public and monks

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of said that meditation has been a way of training the mind and emotions to understand the actual state of life.

His Excllency Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, made the point when he presided over the inauguration ceremony of the Vipassana School at Wat Pothi Ratanaram, known as Wat Thnaot, in Kampong Russey Commune, Por Rieng District, Prey Veng Province on May 17, 2025.

The Prime Minister and also the Chairman of the Royal Government Working Group in Prey Veng province further said that meditative observation and understanding have increased the understanding and mental relaxation of people, both monks and Buddhists, which has been an important mechanism in daily life.

His Excellency Sar Sokha stressed that the Vipassana school has played a significant role in promoting the religious sector in Cambodia and raising awareness of Vipassana techniques for all Buddish monks and following, especially those with mental health problems in their daily lives caused by many factors, including family pressure and economic crisis.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that as Cambodia has chosen Buddhism as its state religion, all citizens have enjoyed the right and openness to choose the religion they love, respect and practice, and it has opened up opportunities for citizens to hold other religious programs.

He went on to say that under the leadership of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia of the Royal Government of the 7th mandate and under the shadow of peace, Cambodia has had the opportunity and sufficient capacity to accelerate development in all sectors, including the religious sector.
