H.E Keo Rattanak, Minister of Mines and Energy, said that by 2025, Cambodia has 6 cement factories with a total investment of approximately US$1.11 billion and provide jobs to approximately 3,000 people.

The Minister made the remarks at the official inauguration ceremony of the cement factory of the Conch KT Cement Phnom Penh Company Limited, located in Oral district, Kampong Speu province, under the chairmanship of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

The Minister went on to say that these six factories have a capacity to produce approximately 11 million tons of cement per year, which has transformed Cambodia from a country that imports 100 percent of its cement from abroad to a country that is able to supply its needs entirely on its own, and has also begun exporting more than 30,000 tons to Thailand in 2024.

The Minister added that in addition to these six projects, three other companies are in the process of building factories and developing sites.

Cement is a necessary requirement for the construction of infrastructure and housing construction, which is currently in high demand in Cambodia, at around 10 million tons. The investing in establishing a cement factory is a good move for the Cambodian economy to meet the consumption that Cambodia often imports from other countries.
