Addressing some 3,000 participants at the fifth campaign event, on Saturday, May 24th, H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation and Chairman of the Coordinating Committee for Informal Economic Development, announced the pilot implementation of a project to improve food hygiene on streets in Kampong Thom province to encourage entrepreneurs to expand their businesses and build the image of Kampong Thom province.
The announcement of Kampong Thom as first province to implement the project to improve food hygiene on streets is part of a campaign to promote and register informal economic operators in Kampong Thom province.
For this pilot project, food hygiene experts will work closely with local authorities and a number of street food vendors who volunteer to provide training and implement food hygiene principles.
The Minister also encouraged informal economic operators to register through the digital platform and explained the benefits of registering informal economic operators, including obtaining official identification, tax exemption, National Social Security Fund benefits, social protection, technical skills training, access to formal financial services, and business development.
