The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia has called for tougher measures against all forms of violence and abuses against children
In his message to celebrate the 76th anniversary of International Children's Day on June 1, the 24th anniversary of the World Day Against Child Labor on June 12, and Cambodian Children's Day 2025, the Cambodian Prime Minister, and Honorary President of the Cambodian National Council for Children,Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said that in order to prevent, protect and respond to challenges and risks for children, the Royal Government has launched a national policy on the child protection system for 2019-2029 and has prepared a two-phase implementation plan for 2019-2025.
In the message, the Prime Minister asked the competent authorities at all levels to continue to strengthen coordination mechanisms in preventing, intervening and responding to child cases to promote and provide social justice to children and ensuring equality between boys and girls.
The Prime Minister went on to say that the National Action Plan on the Reduction of Child Labor and the elimination of the worst forms of child labor 2016-2025 has been a guiding compass to raise awareness of the issue of child labor in Cambodia and provide a driving force for joint efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals 2015-2030, which set the goal of ending all forms of child labor by 2025.
He added that the Cambodian National Council for Children has currently been preparing a draft national action plan on preventing and responding to violence against children for 2025-2030.
