The Cambodian Prime Minister said that improving the health and livelihood of citizens, developing human capital and reducing poverty have remained the priority tasks of the Royal Government.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister made the point at the opening ceremony of the first Congress of the Senate and the National Assembly on Monday, June 2, 2025.
The Congress was held under the chairmanship of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and Chairman of the first Congress of the Senate and the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said that through its second policy program, the Royal Government has launched the National Social Assistance Program in the field of vocational and technical training for young people from poor and vulnerable families with the aim of providing opportunities for them to develop skills and to be able to secure better job opportunities to increase their income and livelihood. The Prime Minister said that young people would be able to receive free training with a monthly stipend during the training period. He added that the program focused on training vocational skills for young people. As of April 2025, a total of more than 110,000 young people have enrolled in school, of whom more than 40,000 are from poor and vulnerable families, and of whom 13,000 have graduated.
The Cambodian Prime Minister has been committed to continuing to prioritize the improvement of the health and livelihood of citizens, the development of human capital, and the reduction of poverty, under any circumstances, under the spirit of never leaving any citizen behind. In this sense, the Royal Government will continue to promote the development of the social protection system in line with the policy directions set out the first phase pentagonal strategy and the National Social Protection Policy Framework for 2024 and 2025, which focus on key priorities, stressed the Prime Minister.
