The Royal Government of Cambodia claims that the agricultural sector contributes approximately 16.7 percent to the gross domestic product

As of 2024, the agricultural sector continues to contribute approximately 16.7 percent to the gross domestic product, and the total value added of the agricultural sector continues to increase annually from approximately US$4.95 billion in 2015 to approximately US$7.82 billion in 2024.

This was stated by the Royal Government of Cambodia reported to the participants in the first Congress of the Senate and the National Assembly held on June 3, 2025, under the Chairmanship of Samdech Akka Moha SenaPadei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and Chairman of the first joint congress of the Senate and the National Assembly.

His Excellency Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, stated that the Cambodian agricultural sector has made commendable results over the past years, transforming Cambodia from a country lacking food and dependent on food assistance from the international community to a country with the capacity to produce enough food and export million tons of agricultural products, which helps support Cambodia’s economic growth and contributes to ensuring food security in the region and the world.

The report of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries also showed that the contribution of various sub-sectors in the agricultural sector includes 61.3 percent of crops, 15.4 percent of livestock production, 20 percent of fisheries, and 3.3 percent of forestry.
