In a message sent from Nice, France, on June 9th, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said that the Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia issued a press release clarifying the clear position of the Cambodian army on the Cambodian-Thai border. The Prime Minister said that the Ministry of Defense stated that there is no withdrawal of the Cambodian armies from the area under Cambodian sovereignty and where the Cambodian armies have been occupying for a long time. He said that all arrangements, including the stationing, deployment, adjustment, and displacement of forces, are within Cambodian sovereignty and with the aim of preparing for the defense of Cambodia's territorial integrity only. The Prime Minister said that the press release of the Cambodian Ministry of Defense reiterated the Cambodian army’s supports for efforts to find a peaceful solution to the problem, but they have been ready to implement the orders of the Royal Government to defend territorial integrity against any attempts at aggression.
It went on to say that the Cambodian army has been ready to join in supporting the border negotiation mechanism with Thailand, which has a joint border commission, to continue the work of measuring and demarcating the remaining boundaries between the two countries, apart from the points that Cambodia will submit to the International Court of Justice (ICJ). In addition to the statement by the Ministry of National Defense, Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister said that the Royal Government would continue to maintain its position of cooperating with the Thai side to promote the measurement of the remaining boundaries and demarcating the border between the two countries, using the Cambodia-Thailand Joint Border Commission , based on the agreements between the Royal Governments of the two countries, especially the 2000 MOU, and international law, including the International Court of Justice mechanism in cases where necessary, such as the cases of Ta Moan Thom , Ta Moan Toch ,Ta Krabey Temples and the Mum Bei areas. The Royal Government will also continue to maintain relations between the two countries through all existing mechanisms for the best interests of the people of both Cambodia and Thailand, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stressed. The Cambodian Premier also calls on the media and citizens to remain calm and trust the Royal Government and the Cambodian Army in protecting the territorial integrity and supreme interests of Cambodian nation. He urged people to avoid creating or sharing any inaccurate information that could lead to misunderstandings and exaggerate the situation, which could escalate the issue into a conflict between the people of the two countries.
