Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province holds a working discussions with Governor of Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province of China

The autonomous port of Preah Sihanouk city in Preah Sihanouk province of Cambodia and the port of Wuxi city in Jiangsu province of China have boosted their cooperation.

The ports of the two countries reached a cooperation agreement to strengthen their cooperation in the fields of transportation, trade and investment.

The agreement was signed after Excellency Mang Sineth, Governor of Preah Sihanouk Provincial, met with H.E. Zhao Jianjun, Governor of Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, the People’s Republic of China on June 8, 2025.

H.E. Zhao Jianjun, Governer of Wuxi outlined Wuxi proposed to promote the development of the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone in order to attract investment from Wuxi city, and people-to-people exchanges. He said that about 300 companies would be expected to invest in the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, that would 80,000 jobs.

The mayor of Wuxi city also requested support for the development of solar and green energy sectors and stressed the need to reduce transportation costs. He also welcomed the direct flight between Wuxi and Sihanoukville Province and expressed great interest in strengthening cooperation in skills development and promoting people-to-people exchanges in areas such as education, health, and cultural tourism. In reply, His Excellency Mang Sineth, Governor of the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Government, stated that the initiatives proposed by the Mayor are fully in line with the priorities of the Royal Government of Cambodia. He thanked the Wuxi City Administration for its support in establishing the multi-skilled training school, which has made significant contributions to the development of human resources in the region.

The two sides also expressed full support for promoting people-to-people exchanges, by encouraging people in Wuxi and Sihanoukville to visit tourist areas in the two provinces and cities, and participating in tourism promotion activities.
