The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said that promoting the use of renewable energy in Cambodia, which currently has reached 62%, is planned to reach 70% by 2030.
The Prime Minister made the point when he met with H.E Sepp Schellhorn, State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Europe and International Affairs of Austria, on Monday, June 9th on the sidelines of the Third United Nations Conference on Oceans (UNOC3) from June 8-13, 2025 in Nice, France.
The Cambodian Prime Minister thanked the government and people of Austria for their contributions and support for mine clearance activities, human resource training, and the operation of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC).
The Cambodian Prime Minister stressed that the two countries have many potential areas that can promote cooperation with each other and highlighted the importance of bilateral consultation mechanisms, urging the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries to continue further discussions with the aim of reviewing the progress of past cooperation and exploring new areas of cooperation.
For his part, H.E Sepp Schellhorn highlighted the continued cooperation with Cambodia in the field of mine clearance and human resource training. In this regard, the Secretary of State welcomed young Cambodian diplomats to study diplomacy at the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna, Austria.
The two sides continued to discuss the fight against climate change.
The Prime Minister of Cambodia highlighted Cambodia's efforts, progress, and achievements in addressing climate change through the launch of several initiatives to ensure conclusive sustainability, energy transition, especially promoting the use of renewable energy in Cambodia.
