The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior of Cambodia recommended the Japan International Cooperation Agency to continue supporting local governance.
His Excellency Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior made the recommendation when he met with Mr. SANUI Kazumasa, Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency on Tuesday, June, 10.
The Deputy Prime Minister wished the Japanese agency to help organize more field visits of the Ministry’s officials for practical assessments.
The Interior Minister expressed his thanks for JICA’s cooperation and support in the field of local governance, decentralization and decentralization, training, the implementation of the Siem Reap Smart City Project with the goal of providing administrative services closer to the people, and traffic safety work to reduce traffic accidents on the roads.
Mr. SANUI Kazumasa briefed Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha of the achievements of the first phase of the Smart City Project, which was completed in May 2025, and JICA would continue to collaborate with the Siem Reap administration and relevant institutions in the implementation of the second phase of the Smart City Project from 2025 to 2028.
He also mentioned JICA's support in contributing to the work of rescuing victims of human trafficking, such as providing advice on guidelines for victim identification, and providing support on JICA's 3Es technical business for the National Road 5 improvement project.
