Addressing the opening ceremony of the 8th National Technical and Vocational Education and Training Day under the theme “TVET creates job opportunities, builds hope for youth” of the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, on June 15, which last for two days from June 15 to 16, H.E Heng Sour, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, said that human resource development is a key factor for supporting industrial development, promoting competitiveness, and economic growth with sustainability, equity, and resilience to crises.

The Minister stated that technical and vocational education and training plays an indispensable role in developing human capital by helping to provide learners with the knowledge, technical skills, abilities and work attitudes to become skilled workers and technicians, and to contribute to reducing the skills gap in the labor market, making our labor force and human capital resilient to changes in economic conditions and structures, the development of new science and technology, and promoting the broader participation of youth in national social and economic development. The Minister stressed that the celebration of the 8th National Day will help continue to promote the vocational and technical training program for young people from poor and vulnerable families across the country for a target of approximately 1.5 million people at the technical and vocational diploma level 1, without paying tuition fees and receiving a monthly subsidy of 280,000 riels, which the Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet was officially launched on November 14, 2023.
