Delivering a special audio message to the nation before the 3rd plenary session of the Senate on Monday, June 16, 2025, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of cambodia, called on Cambodians to use Cambodian products to show nationalist spirit and to strengthen self-confidence.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen's call followed Thailand unilateral decision to close the border crossings, which prompted Cambodia to take retaliatory measures by banning Thai goods, including vegetables and fruits, from being imported into Cambodia.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also called on Cambodians to be optimistic, and asks local sellers not to take advantage to raise prices, which will affect consumers.

Tension has flared up between Cambodia and Thailand over the border issues.

The incident has let Cambodia to stop buying electricity and internet from Thailand in response to Thailand’s decision to cut off electricity and the Internet to Cambodia. Thai films have also been stopped from being shown on television channels and cinemas nationwide.

The Thai side has used various threat mechanisms against Cambodia, including cutting off electricity, cutting off the internet, unilaterally closing border crossings. In response to this threat,
