June 20 has been celebrated every year as the day the whole of the nation has been grateful to Samdech Techo Hun Sen for his sacrifice for the Cambodian people.
48 years ago, on June 20, 1977, Samdech TechoHun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, had took pains to leave his family and the country to seek assistance from Vietnam to liberate the nation and the people of Cambodia from the genocidal regime of the Khmer Rouge.
June 20, 2025 marks the 48th anniversary of the day Samdech Techo Hun Sen began to dedicate his life to liberate the nation and the people, and it is a day that he will never forget in his life because it was the time when he left his poor pregnant wife, his homeland and his people, who were facing extinction.
“I am so hurt that I can’t find words to express it. Even though 48 years have passed, my tears still flow without stopping when I remember that
story”, stressed Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
Samdech stated that whenever he remembers that time, his tears always flow without stopping, even while writing this short article.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen posted a video song on his official Facebook, accompanied with the following statement: “Tomorrow, June 20, is the 48th anniversary (June 20, 1977-June 20, 2025), the day I began to dedicate my life to the struggle to liberate the nation and the people from the genocidal regime of Pol Pot. With tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions of tears when I left my poor pregnant wife, leaving my homeland and people facing extinction.
