Commander of the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Forces vows to strengthen and expand cooperation on human resource training for Cambodian Army

General MORISHITA Yasunori, Commander of the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Forces, expressed his commitment to strengthen and expand cooperation on human resource training for the Cambodian Army.

The commitment was made when he paid a courtesy call on Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, on Monday, June 23, 2025, in Siem Reap province.

General MORISHITA Yasunori expressed his satisfaction and high appreciation for the good relations and cooperation within the framework of the two countries’ Armies.

He also informed the Cambodian Prime Minister that his visit to Cambodia on this occasion is to continue strengthening and expanding cooperation on human resource training for the Cambodian Army.

For his part, the Cambodian Prime Minister warmly welcomed General MORISHITA Yasunori to Cambodia, especially to Siem Reap the land of the glorious Angkor civilization.

The Cambodian Prime Minister thanked the government and people of Japan for their contributions to the development process of Cambodia, including the preservation of heritage and temples in Cambodia, and Japan is also the co-chair of the International Committee for the Coordination of the Protection and Development of Angkor Sites (ICC-Angkor).

The Prime Minister of Cambodia highlighted the good relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Japan, and expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the good relations and cooperation between the land forces of the two countries. He also encouraged the Armies of the two countries to study the possibility of strengthening and expanding cooperation in conducting joint training exercises for disaster relief and mine clearance.
