The Cambodian Prime Minister on Monday June 23 visited local people who have voluntarily move to a designated safety area.

The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, thanked local officials and members of the military and security forces in Preah Vihear province for their attention to helping alleviate the hardships of citizens who have been evacuated from areas along the border with Thailand.

The Cambodian Prime Minister also praised the sense of responsibility of local officials in carrying out their duties.

The Royal Government of Cambodia has the duty to protect national interests, take a stand to protect national sovereignty, and choose international law to peacefully resolve border issues, underlined the Premier.

Cambodia has brought four disputed areas to the International Court of Justice to resolve the border issues with Thailand for the benefit of the Cambodian people.

About 1,200 families have been evacuated from the border areas in the province of Preah Vihear to a safety zone in the province.
