Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, met with H.E Ermenegildo Kupa Lopes, the outgoing Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to Cambodia, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his satisfaction with the work cooperation with the Ambassador of Timor-Leste and also conveyed greetings to His Excellency Gusmão, Prime Minister, and His Excellency José Ramos-Horta, President of Timor-Leste.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen recalled his visit to Timor-Leste, where he was warmly welcomed by the President and considered the visit as a historical event in the relations between Cambodia and Timor-Leste.

The Cambodian Senate President also stressed that in his life in international affairs, he was very proud to have helped Timor-Leste become an observer member in 2022 and Timor-Leste a full member of ASEAN in October 2025, after he had helped India to become an ASEAN partner in 2002.

The Ambassador of Timor-Leste expressed his profound thanks to Samdech Techo Hun Sen for helping Timor-Leste become a full member of ASEAN in October, 2025.
