The United Nations Development Program: No development can happen without peace

Ms. Alissar Chaker, Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Cambodia, said that no development can happen without peace.

The point was made when Ms. Alissar Chaker paid a courtesy call on Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, Tuesday,July 1st 2025 at the Peace Palace.

Ms. Alissar Chaker informed Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister about the achievements of the good partnership between UNDP and the Royal Government of Cambodia, which has contributed to the socio-economic development of Cambodia and expressed her deep gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia and relevant ministries and institutions for providing good cooperation with UNDP, especially during the fight against the spread of COVID-19 epidemic.

She also highly appreciated Cambodia’s plan to graduate from the Least Developed Country status in 2029, which is another success for Cambodia, and she hopes that UNDP will continue to contribute and support Cambodia in preparing for this transition.

She stressed that peace brings development and no development can take place without peace. Ms. Alissar Chaker is confident that under the wise leadership of the SamdechThipadei Hun Manet, Cambodia will develop, prosper, and become stronger. She also informed the Cambodian Prime Minister about UNDP’s continued cooperation with relevant ministries and institutions in Cambodia and hoped that the Royal Government of Cambodia would continue to cooperate with UNDP in a partnership of trust.

For his part, the Cambodian Prime Minister expressed his appreciation and thanks for UNDP’s support and cooperation through various programs that have contributed to socio-economic development in Cambodia and have provided tangible benefits to the Cambodian people.
