On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the Ministry of Environment collaborated with the Japanese company GOMI RECYCLE110 CO., LTD to support the education of poor students in remote rural schools.

The cooperation was made in a meeting between H.E Eang Sophallet, Minister of Environment, and Mr. Yusuke Okumura, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company.

GOMI RECYCLE110 CO., LTD, which has more than 10 years of experience in waste recycling and management in Cambodia, expressed its intention to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Environment. This is in response to the recommendation of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, on May 28, 2025 in Tokyo, Japan.

The company plans to set up a machine to recycle plastic waste, bottles, and other waste that can be operated even in remote areas to produce materials.

For his part, the Minister Environment fully supported the initiative and urged the company to start installing the Japanese-standard waste recycling machine in one district of the province as a pilot project first, and then continue to expand to all provinces to ensure the company’s success.

The Ministry will provide the company with plastic waste and waste collected by students from the “Clean Cambodia, Khmer Made” campaign to process. The funds raised from the sale of the recycled products will be used to support the education of students in rural schools.

The investment in recycling plastic waste in these remote areas is in line with the recommendations and objectives of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet to promote a clean Cambodia, respond to climate change, and move towards achieving Cambodia’s vision of becoming a carbon-neutral country by 2050.
