On Monday, July 7, 2025, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, chaired the 3rd meeting of the Supreme Consultative and Advisory Council at the Peace Palace.
The Supreme Consultative and Advisory Council was initiated by Samdech Techo Hun Sen as Prime Minister in 2018 at the beginning of the 6th term as a mechanism for political parties to consult and provide advice to the Royal Government, outside the framework of parliament. The aim is also improving work efficiency for the benefit of serving the people and developing the national society.
The Supreme Consultative and Advisory Council in this new mandate includes 29 political parties.
The Supreme Advisory and Consultative Council also has the right to initiate the preparation of policies to be submitted to the Prime Minister for review and decision.
The Supreme Advisory and Consultative Council has the right to initiate or provide advice on draft laws and other legal documents to be submitted to the Prime Minister for review and decision. The Supreme Advisory and Consultative Council has the right to submit draft laws and other legal documents to the Minister of the Ministry or the Secretariat of State with relevant expertise to review, study and provide advice to the Prime Minister for decision.
This Council may also propose or advise the Prime Minister on the actual needs of preparing and drafting amendments to laws or revising other legal documents for the Prime Minister to review and submit to the relevant Minister or Secretariat of State.
