Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, reaffirmed Cambodia’s position in resolving the border issues with Thailand
At a meeting in Phnom Penh on Monday, July 7, 2025, with H.E Pabitra Margherita, Deputy Foreign Minister of India, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Senate, briefed the Indian senior official on the causes of the issue and reaffirmed strong position to protect the integrity of Cambodia.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also mentioned that the border issue between Cambodia and Thailand started with Thailand drawing a unilateral map and shooting and killing a Cambodian soldier on May 28, 2025, and the unilateral closure of the border.
The Senate President also told the Indian Deputy Foreign Minister that Cambodia does not want to see war with its neighboring countries, that is why Cambodia uses peaceful negotiation mechanisms, especially using international legal mechanisms by filing a complaint with the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
The Indian Deputy Foreign Minister praised Cambodia's decision to take the matter to the International Court of Justice to resolve the issue.
