H.E Ermenegildo Kupa Lopes, the outgoing Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Cambodia, said that in his diplomatic mission in Cambodia, he has learned from the successful experience in Cambodia’s socio-economic development, which will be a lesson and a great practice for Timorese socio-economic development.
The Ambassador mentioned this when he paid a farewell visit to Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, on Monday July 7, 2025, at the Peace Palace.
The Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the rapid development and progress in all sectors of Cambodia.
He also expressed his strong belief that under the wise leadership of the SamdechThipadei Hun Manet, Cambodia would continue to achieve progressive development and be able to successfully resolve challenges.
He also expressed his appreciation for the heroic leadership of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and expressed his deep gratitude for Cambodia’s support, especially when Cambodia as the Chair of ASEAN for 2022, which has moved ASEAN member countries to agree in principle to allow Timor-Leste to become the 11th full member of ASEAN. Without the support of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Timor-Leste would not have been able to become the 11th full member of ASEAN in the near future, stressed the Ambassador.
For his part, the Cambodian Prime Minister highly appreciated the contribution made by the outgoing Ambassador of Timor-Leste to strengthening and expanding Cambodia-Timor-Leste relations and cooperation.
