58 out of 60 Senators approved the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

According to the announcement of the results of the extraordinary Senate meeting on July 14, 2025, the Senate meeting reviewed and gave a full consensus on the entire bill without any change, with 58 votes of the entire Senate.

The draft constitution is an important legal instrument to ensure and protect peace, stability, and national sovereignty, and to prevent and combat external interference in Cambodia’s internal affairs, especially treason and foreign collusion, which seriously affect national security and national interests.

The amendment to Article 33 of the Cambodian Constitution demonstrates the strength of the legal framework in strengthening national defense in accordance with international standards and regulations.

In a situation where the country is facing territorial invasion, and when the Royal Government of Cambodia is striving to prevent complex threats from abroad to maintain and protect national sovereignty, territorial integrity, peace, stability, and security for the people, a handful of extremists, colluding with foreign powers, are trying to cover up foreign aggression, misinterpret events, and take actions that seriously affect national interests and citizens.

This clearly reflects their irresponsibility towards the nation and undermines their own national interests.
