Two Chinese railway companies have been given the green light by the Royal Government of Cambodia to study the Phnom Penh subway project and the light rail link between Phnom Penh and Techo International Airport.
On Monday morning, March 18, 2024, the delegation of both companies attended a meeting with relevant ministries and institutions of Cambodia under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia.
The meeting was also attended by H.E Peng Pornea, Minister of Public Works and Transport and many relevant stakeholders.
Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol welcomed the delegation of the two Chinese companies and stressed the improving the transportation system in Phnom Penh is an important task and is highly valued by the old government led by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister and in the new legislature led by Samdech Moha Bovor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia.
Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol instructed the two Chinese companies to work directly with Cambodian Minister of Public Works and Transport, to expedite the study to submit to the Royal Government for review.
He also advised the relevant authorities to facilitate the two Chinese companies to study quickly.
