Cambodia, Australia agree to set up Cambodia-Australia Business Council to promote trade, investment and trade between the two countries

Cambodia and Australia have agreed to establish the Cambodia-Australia Business Council to further promote and promote business, investment and trade activities between the two countries.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and Mr. Bran Black, Executive Director of the Business Council of Australia, on March 4, 2024, in Melbourne, Australia.

Mr. Bran Black informed Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet that the Australian Business Council represents the private sector, which has more than 120 major Australian private companies and provides more than 1 million jobs. 

Mr Bran Black pointed out that the Australian Business Council currently has working relationships with many countries, including ASEAN countries. In addition, the Executive Director expressed his intention to expand cooperation with Cambodia to strengthen and expand business and trade relations between Australia and Cambodia.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed the Executive Director of the Australian Business Council and his colleagues for their courtesy and discussion and he stressed that the Royal Government of Cambodia highly values the role of the private sector in contributing to the socio-economic development of Cambodia. The Cambodian Prime Minister also confirmed to the Executive Director that today's meeting is an opportunity that can encourage the private sector of Australia to understand and expand more investment in Cambodia. The Prime Minister warmly welcomed the intention of the Australian Business Council to promote cooperation between the Australian Business Council and Cambodia.

The Cambodian Premier also stated that the Royal Government of Cambodia is open to all businesses and acts as a bridge to facilitate and ensure the investment climate in Cambodia.
