Cambodia ranks first in ASEAN and third among the 20 fastest growing economies in Asia with a growth rate of 6.1% in 2024

The Kingdom of Cambodia ranked first in ASEAN and third among the 20 fastest growing economies in Asia with a growth rate of 6.1% in 2024 

According to H.E Pen Bona, spokesperson of the Royal Government of Cambodia, the ranking of economic growth published by the Indonesian statistics firm Seasia stats based on the forecasts of international financial institutions.

The spokesman recalled that under the leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the former Prime Minister, Cambodia had a high and steady economic growth of around 7% for decades. This enabled Cambodia to realize rapid development after the country achieved full peace with a win-win policy in 1998, stressed the spokesperson.

The spokesman continued to say that then the Covid-19 epidemic has come in and dragged down the entire world economy in a way that no one could have imagined. He said that Cambodia also could not be spared by the effects of this catastrophic public health crisis. The spokesman further said that but under the wise management and leadership of the Royal Government, led by Samdech Techo Hun Sen the impact caused by the deadly disease had been reduced to a lesser extent and gradually the country and its people had been dragged out of the Covid-19.

Although the COVID-19 crisis and the effects of the war in Ukraine are still affecting the world economy, the Royal Government, led by Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, set out a clear vision. The head of the Royal Government of Cambodia has announced an ambitious pentagon strategy towards achieving the vision of making Cambodia by 2050 a high-income country, added the spokesperson.

The spokesman stressed that to achieve the goal, six priority policy programs have been put in place to be implemented immediately, all of which help improve the lives of people, especially the poor and vulnerable.
