Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said that Cambodia has been joining other ASEAN member countries in pushing for the ASEAN Digital Economic Framework Agreement.
The Cambodian leader spoke of the move taken by the royal government of Cambodia at the opening ceremony of the first digital government forum held in Phnom Penh on Monday March 11, 2024.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stressed that the agreement has been expected to increase the size of the ASEAN digital economy from US$1 trillion to US$ 2 trillion by 2030. Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet further said the Royal Government has been implementing the digital policy agenda with a proactive and open spirit in order to achieve the national digital development goals and regional and global digital development goals as set out in the ASEAN Digital Master Plan 2025 and the United Nations Digital Strategy 2022-2025.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet highly appreciated the organization of the important forum and said that the digital revolution was to capture and maximize the benefits of advances in information and communication technology and digital technology to increase productivity and economic efficiency, contributing to promoting national economic growth and building a civilized society where people can benefit from the use of digital services with reliability and security to maintaining national identity and culture.
The first digital government forum was held for 3 days with the aims to celebrate the achievements of the past and together create new achievements through discussion, exchange of ideas, sharing of experiences and good practices, initiatives and collaborations, and promoting the development of new digital public services to respond in a timely manner to the growing needs of the people of Cambodia and ASEAN as a whole on the path to a fully digital economy and society
