The Ministry of Planning plays an important role as an executive body of the Royal Government in coordinating the development of national strategic development plans and other plans in the interest of the nation.
The Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, praised the role of the Ministry of Planning at the closing ceremony of the Annual sum-up meeting of the Ministry on Tuesday April 9, 2024.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said the Ministry of Planning has also been involved in devising public investment plans, identification of poor and vulnerable families, in managing the national database and disseminating national statistics on key sectors like demographic, economic, health, social and agricultural statistics for ministries and institutions to use in their development planning.
The Prime Minister further said that the Ministry of Planning is also the executive body of the Royal Government in organizing and coordinating work in many other international environments, including the work of sustainable development goals, the work to strengthen and monitor the implementation of the action programs of the International Conference on Population and Development, and helping prepare for Cambodia's departure from being classified as a least developed country.
Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister also expressed his thanks to His Excellency Chhay Thorn, former Minister of Planning, for having led the Ministry of Planning well for more than 25 years, and also agreed with the Minister of Planning on the indispensable work of statistical and population planning.
