Chinese Foreign Minister, H.E Wang Yi announced his government's position to continue supporting Cambodia's development through promoting agriculture, industry and technology when he paid a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, in Phnom Penh on Monday, April 22, 2024.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet extended a warm welcome to His Excellency Wang Yi and his delegation on their visit to Cambodia and highly appreciated the Cambodian-Chinese cooperation, which has contributed to the promotion of socio-economic development of Cambodia.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also praised the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which has enable Cambodia to build infrastructure such as the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway and Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport, which have contributed to Cambodia ‘s economic growth.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet asked China to study the possibility of promoting cooperation in establishing the Cambodia-China Free Trade Area and more special economic zones.
H.E Wang Yi expressed his pleasure to see the two governments carry out good cooperation in a comprehensive strategic partnership.
The Chinese diplomat stressed that Cambodia has been playing an increasingly important role in the international arena, and that Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet's first official visit to China in 2023 reflected and contributed to the strengthening of ties of friendship and solidarity between China and Cambodia.
The Chinese diplomat said that his visit to Cambodia would continue to support and promote cooperation in building a new China-Cambodia common destiny community in the new era.Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening existing cooperation in the fields of national defense and security, education, culture and other fields.
