Dr. Pech Chanmony: Promoting social morality depends on education, knowledge and commitment from the relevant actors to play a proactive and cooperative role

Dr. Pech Chanmony Hun Manet, Honorary President of the National Committee for the Promotion of Social Morality, Women's Values and the Khmer Family,​ highly appreciated the efforts of the National Committee as well as the contribution of all ministries and institutions that have joined hands to carry out their roles and responsibilities consciously and effectively.

Dr. Pech Chanmony Hun Manet, who is the spouse of the Cambodian Prime Minister, took her time to preside over a meeting organized on Tuesday February 27 by the Ministry of Women’s Affairs to review the work results of 2023 and to set work directions of 2024 for the National Committee for the Promotion of Social Morality, Women and Family Values at the Ministry of Women's Affairs.

The honorable President of the Committee highly appreciated the efforts of the National Committee as well as the contribution of all ministries and institutions that have joined hands to carry out their roles and responsibilities consciously and effectively, especially to promote the implementation of the six recommendations introduced by Samdech Kittipritthbandit Bun RanyHun Sen, the spouse of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister. 

The meeting also updated the action plan of the Committee to respond to the development of society through joint elimination of all negative problems in order to preserve the identity, traditions, customs and national culture, as well as to promote the social morality, values of women and the Khmer family.

Dr. Pech Chanmony Hun Manet acknowledged that despite its rapid development, technology has not been widely used as a means of disseminating and educating about morality in society. She continued to say that the promotion of social morality depends on education, knowledge and commitment from the relevant actors to play a proactive role and to work together.

Dr. Honorary President of the National Committee for the Promotion of Social Morality, Women's Values and the Khmer Family also highlighted the active participation of Cambodian women in social protection, especially in the leadership of micro and small and medium enterprises, which reflected the important role of Cambodian women in increasing income, reducing poverty and improving family well-being today. 

Dr. Pech Chanmony also requested all stakeholders to continue to pay attention to promoting the reduction of all forms of violence against women.
