H.E Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice President of the Mine Authority, met with Mr. Rath Sophorn, Executive Director and Country Director of May Bank Cambodia and his colleagues, on June 5, 2024, at the Office of the Mine Authority.
Maybank Representative, Ms Gastrin Chan Abdullah, Director of Operations Management Department, spoke about the progress of the Reach Independence and Sustainable Entrepreneurship project under the cooperation between the Mines Authority and the Maybank Foundation in December 2023.
The Reach Independence and Sustainable Entrepreneurship project successfully provided five training courses to 194 people with disabilities and vulnerable groups affected by landmines and explosive remnants of war, with a focus on entrepreneurial skills, creative sales and business management practices.
Maybank Foundation Plans Reach Independence and Sustainable Entrepreneurship for 2024, which is scheduled to begin in September 2024, focusing on 1,000 target groups in Phnom Penh city, Sihanoukville, Siem Reap, Battambang and Banteay Meanchey provinces to raise awareness of the importance of programs and impacts in the community.
On behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia, H.E Ly Thuch thanked Maybank for its decision to invest in Cambodia, provide employment opportunities and contribute to improving the lives of Cambodians as needed.
Senior Minister Ly Thuch advised the representatives of the Maybank Foundation to continue to work closely and work with the technical authority of the Mine Authority to support the proposed plan for 2024 to increase the efficiency and sustainability of the successful implementation of the Reach Independence and Sustainable Entrepreneurship project in Cambodia.
